The Boucher SG-21 GI is an OM Hybrid model using a torrefied Adirondack Spruce top and African Bubinga for the sides and back. The GI letters indicate the ‘Gold’ and ‘Intimate Concert’ options were specified. The Gold options include a Torrefied ‘Gold Touch’ top and gold-plated Gotoh open-gear tuners. The ‘Intimate Concert’ pack provides a passive three-element K&K Pure Mini pickup set installed to the bridge plate and an end-pin jack.
The OM Hybrid term indicates that the body has the top and back dimensions of a ‘standard’ Orchestra Model, while the sides have 000-14 depth at the upper bout and OM depth at the lower bout. As well, the Hybrid gets a longer 25.5 inch scale length, and again a mix of fingerboard width dimensions. The nut width is OM width, the octave fret width is 000-14 width.
Built in Berthier-sur-Mer, Quebec, this Boucher SG-21 GI has an interior signature with a date of October 2021. It is in overall good condition with a couple of cosmetic dents to the top. It plays well, and the OM body design works extremely well delivering a full, rich and well balanced sound with plenty of volume and projection.
Sold with its original tweed arched top hard shell case.
