Built from 1997 to 2003, the Bourgeois Martin Simpson model features a Grand Auditorium body with a very deep cutaway. Targeted towards fingerstyle artists, this model delivers lots of power and punch along with great tone.
This example of the Bourgeois Martin Simpson model dates to 1999. It features a Sitka Spruce top with Indian Rosewood back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and a dreadnought-sized body with an unusually deep cutaway. The bridge, fingerboard and headplate are ebony. The top has some play wear, as this model didn’t include a pickguard. There is a repaired crack on the top center seam and the top has slight bellying behind the bridge, and the frets have been dressed. It plays well with a responsive, full tone. There is lots of saddle height.
The scale length is 25.4 inches and the nut width is 1.75 inches; the neck joins the body at the 12th fret, which moves the bridge towards the vibrating center of the top and can really improve volume and tonal responsiveness.
As stock, a K&K Mini is installed, and the original hardshell case is included.
