Fender produced the Stratocaster Antigua in limited numbers during the 1970’s. This unusual finish is like a grey to pale yellow sunburst, often with a greenish tint. The Antigua finish started as a way to fix a problem with burned binding on Coronados, and was extended to other models.
Here we have a hard tail, maple neck version of the 1979 Stratocaster Antigua. Built in Fullerton, California while CBS still owned Fender, this guitar is in good, all original condition. The body finish has some minor wear where the player’s arm rested on the edge and the tail strap pin. There’s also a small section of finish chipped from the walnut ‘skunk stripe’ behind the 3rd fret, visible in the rear view photograph. Otherwise the finish condition is surprisingly good. This guitar has been well cared for. Fret wear is light to moderate.
The original hard shell case is included.
