Gibson Memphis ES345 64 Reissue Sea Foam Green, 2016

Here’s a beauty from the now-closed shop – a Gibson Memphis ES345 64 Reissue thinline archtop electric in an unusual Sea Foam Green finish! This was a limited edition model for the 2016 year.

Introduced in 1958 as a midpoint between the groundbreaking ES-335 and upscale ES-355, the Gibson ES-345 featured the same core construction as the two bracketing models. A thinline body built with Maple laminate and a solid Maple center block, routed for pickups, and a Mahogany neck with Rosewood fingerboard are common to the three models (except for the ES355’s Ebony fingerboard with Mother of Pearl block markers). For differentiation, the ES345 received split-parallelogram position markers and a six-position rotary Varitone control. The Varitone uses a series of capacitors and inductors (or chokes) to filter specific frequency ranges, and is not like the treble-rolloff tone control.   

This is a Gibson Memphis ES345 64 Reissue VOS, built during 2016 as part of a limited run.  It is in very good clean condition with very light wear, and plays well and cleanly.   

Sold with the original hard shell case.

The neck is shaped into a period-correct ’64 Rounded C neck profile to give this ES-345 that classic Gibson comfort while the superbly playable rosewood fretboard boasts luxurious rolled cream binding and aged split parallelogram inlays.The Limited Run 1964 ES-345 Sea Foam Green VOS comes fitted with a pair of vintage-correct Memphis Historic Spec (MHS) humbuckers to serve up all the pure time-tested PAF tone you could ever want.

The electronics consist of independent volume and tone controls for each pickup featuring matching potentiometers, a 3-position toggle and a Varitone switch for unparalleled tonal versatility.Wrapping up this attractive vintage-inspired package, the Limited Run 1964 ES-345 Sea Foam Green comes equipped with period-correct plastics, a set of vintage-style tuners, a nickel ABR-1 bridge with nylon saddles, and a stopbar tailpiece.
