Produced for Saga Musical Instruments, the mahogany Gold Star GF-100HF ‘Hearts and Flowers’ banjo reproduces a classic flathead banjo from the 1930s. The Gold Star models appeared in the late 1970s and have been in production since, in a few variations.
This 2006 Gold Star GF-100H in very nice condition, with just slight wear. These banjos are ideal for bluegrass, producing excellent tone and clarity, served up with more than adequate volume. This model is built with a three-ply Maple rim, and Mahogany for the resonator and neck, with a bound Ebony fingerboard. The tone ring is a 20-hole flathead style. Hardware is nickel plated, and all the gears and hardware work well. And it has the classic ‘Hearts and Flowers’ inlay set, executed in Mother of Pearl.
On this GF-100HF example, fret and finish wear are minimal. There are a few small marks on the back of the neck, but virtually no fret wear.
The original hard shell case is included.
