| Comments | Hofner produced the 500/1 ‘Beatle Bass’ for many years, long before it had any association with The Beatles or Paul McCartney and the 500 1 UK Jubilee model is a short-run commemorative version.
Though it became an impractical design for stage use during the Stage Volume Wars, it’s kept a place in lower volume venues and as stage volumes drop to reasonable levels, is coming back into vogue. It’s a very comfortable, good sounding instrument. Today we are fortunate to be viewing a 2012 Hofner 500-1 UK Jubilee Bass, a rare and interesting model. For Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee, Hofner built 60 500-1 UK Jubilee Bass models. This is number 40, and is a new instrument – the pickups still have the peel-off plastic covers. It comes with a rectangular aluminum lightweight case with all documentation and strap. |

| Finish | This bass sports a custom Union Jack finish for the Queen’s 2012 Jubilee year. The top has the red white and blue Union Jack, while the sides, back and neck use a clear untinted finish showing off the whiteness of the maple. |
| Hardware/electronics | All original – strip tuners with plastic buttons, Hofner single coil pickups and wiring with teacup style knobs, original style bridge and tailpiece. |
