The Hofner 500-1 violin bass is one of the world’s most recognizable basses. Light and comfortable with a distinctive woody tone, the Hofner 500/1 has appeared on many hit recordings.
Built in Germany, this is a vintage 1962 Reissue version, now called the Mersey bass. It’s very close in design to the 1963 version used by Paul McCartney on more than a few recordings and appearances.
