The Kanile’a company in Kane’ohe, Hawaii produces some of the nicest ukuleles we see. This Kanile’a Custom Tenor ukulele is an excellent example of their work. Built by master luthier Joseph Souza these are very well made, professional grade instruments.
Born and raised on Oahu, Joseph Souza apprenticed to Peter Bermudez and has been building ukuleles since 1991.
This Kanile’a Custom Tenor ukulele is built using the traditional Hawaiian material – Koa – and a nicely figured set was used here. The neck is Mahogany with an Indian Rosewood fingerboard, and has abalone position markers. Gold plated Grover Sta-Tite tuners are used. This example dates to 2007 is in very good condition with only light wear, and the original hardshell case is included.
