The Larrivee 000-60 is a traditional style acoustic guitar, featuring a ‘Triple O’ body size, paired with a 12-fret, slotted peghead neck. The sides and back are Indian Rosewood and the top Sitka Spruce, the neck mahogany with bound Ebony fingerboard, and ebony ‘pyramid’ style bridge.

The 12-fret neck hearkens back to the time when the steel string guitar was just taking off in popularity. As banjo players shifted to guitar, they wanted the access to higher frets found on guitars, so guitar builders altered the design to provide at least 14 frets clear of the body. However, this has some tonal effects because it shifts the vibrating center of the bridge away from the center of the top. Over the last few years, 12-fret designs have started re-appearing as fingerstyle players catch on to the richer tone available.

Built at Larrivee’s Oxnard, California plant and dated to July 13 2004, this Larrivee 000-60 is in very good condition with little play or finish wear. It plays well and is currently set to 6/64ths treble and 7/64ths inch bass, a pretty standard actoin height. The original hardshell Larrivee case is included.
