Based on the jumbo body L05, the Larrivee L05-12 is an impressive 12-string guitar. The combination of spruce top and mahogany back and sides provides a crisp, well articulated tone with lots of clear separation between notes. That can be very helpful on a 12-string, as the large amount of sonic spectrum available can make it hard to distinguish – perhaps like having too many cymbals on a drum mix.
This Larrivee L-05 dates to March 1, 1990, is in good shape and was serviced some time ago at Folkway music, with a fret dress, bridge reglue and set up for fingerstyle. There is moderate fretwear, particularly in the lower positions, since the service but it plays well and cleanly. An active under-saddle pickup is installed.
