Nechville Zeus Banjo Flame Maple, 2011

The Nechville Zeus Banjo is near top of the line for Nechville banjos, indicated by its use of the name of the Ruler of the (Greek) Gods. A Curly Maple version of the Walnut Nechville Saturn banjo, these excellent banjos are fairly uncommon. Like the Saturn, the Nechville Zeus banjo features a 3-Ply Maple Rim that is steam bent, then spun by hand, and the Timber-Tronic Tone Ring that is considerably lighter than a bronze ring.

With a design dating back to 1917, the Martin D-18 Dreadnought has been one of the bases of the Martin line since its official launch in 1931. The Martin D-18 Dreadnought shares a number of core design elements with all other Martin Dreadnoughts, a large body with Mahogany neck. What changes from model to model is the wood selection and appointments.

Larrivee L30 Classical Guitar Natural, 2000

The Larrivee L30 Classical Guitar Natural, now discontinued, is a straightforward Spruce and Rosewood classical guitar showing Jean Larrivee’s background in this genre. When learning guitar building, Larrivee spent a good amount of time with Edgar Monch during Monch’s time in Toronto, and learned much about guitar construction from him.

Taylor 414ce-R Grand Auditorium Rosewood Natural, 2017

The Taylor 414ce-R Grand Auditorium Rosewood was launched at the 2016 Summer NAMM show, adding a Rosewood option in place of Ovangkol. Rosewood delivers a somewhat warmer and punchier tone. The design is very versatile, with plenty of volume and projection, suitable for everything from fingerstyle to flatpicking. The factory ES2 pickup system makes it ready to plug in should amplification be required.

National Tricone Style 1 12-Fret Neck Black, 2000

Here’s an interesting piece: a National Tricone Style 1 with 12-fret neck, used by Colin Linden on various projects including Blackie and the Rodeo Kings! The National Tricone is based on the very first resophonic guitars invented in 1927 by George Beauchamp and built by luthier John Dopyera – with the spun cones and metal bodies made by Adolf Richenbacher.
