Hirade TH5 Classical Guitar with Pickup, 2010

The Hirade TH5 is based on the H5 concert classical guitar, but with a good pickup system and preamp – which very unusually contains a 12AU7 vacuum tube! Here we’re looking at a Hirade TH5 dating to January, 2010 and built at the Takamine / Hirade shop in Sakashita, Japan. It’s in very good clean condition with light wear. This is a good sounding, good playing guitar with the added benefits of a quality pickup and preamp. The original brown Takamine hard shell case is included.

Oahu Style 71K Hawaiian Squareneck Guitar, 1935

Built during the mid 1930s, the Oahu Style 71K Hawaiian square neck guitar expressed the popularity of Hawaiian music and steel guitar. Oahu was perfectly placed as they were also a major music publisher. This Oahu Style 71K Hawaiian square neck was likely built by Kay around 1935, and features a solid Spruce top, X-braced, with laminate Maple for the sides and back. The neck is Mahogany, with Rosewood used for the bridge and the bound fingerboard. The finish is Sunburst, executed in nitrocellulose lacquer, and sports an elaborate gold-coloured, stencil design on the top.

Kay ‘TrueTone’ Speed Demon K573 Thinline Sunburst, 1962

Beyond the TrueTone name, this is a Kay K537 model, with an arched top and back body made of laminated Maple, a bolt on Maple neck with bound Rosewood fingerboard and brass frets, floating Rosewood bridge, trapeze tailpiece, and Kluson Deluxe single-line tuners. The original pickguard is intact and included.

Guild X170 Archtop Electric Blonde, 1988

The Guild X170, also called the ‘Mini Manhattan’ was built from 1985 until 2002 as a fully hollow electric archtop with laminated Maple body, Maple neck and Rosewood fingerboard. Here we’re looking at a Guild X170 dating to late 1988 and built in Westerly, Rhode Island. It’s in very good clean condition with very little wear of any kind. The clear, natural finish is in great shape and nicely shows off the light figuring of the Maple top, back and sides. The neck uses a five-piece construction with three Maple sections separated by two thin Walnut layers.

Ibanez AAF207 7-String Archtop Electric Sunburst, 1997

The body of the Ibanez AAF207 7-String is Maple laminate, as is the case for many professional grade cutaway archtop electrics. On the top, the laminate has an outward layer of Spruce, while it’s Flamed Maple for the sides and back. The neck is a three piece design, with outside layers of Mahogany on a Maple center section, and an Ebony fingerboard with three-piece Abalone and Mother of Pearl position markers. The traditional wooden bridge is Ebony, for both cap and base.

Taylor 556 12 String Acoustic Guitar, 2017

The Taylor 556 12-string Grand Symphony is now discontinued and replaced by models like the 552ce and 562ce Grand Concert. Still, it shows why Taylor took over the spot for ‘King of the 12-String Jumbo’. The Grand Symphony body shape is a full size jumbo, roughly equivalent to the Gibson J-200 or Guild F55. It provides a lot of output power and when built using a Spruce top paired with Mahogany back and sides, delivers that with sparkle, clarity and articulation.
