Bourgeois Vintage D Adirondack Top, 2015

Bourgeois Vintage D Adirondack Top, 2015

Here we’re treated to a Bourgeois Vintage D, dating to May 19 2015 and featuring an Adirondack Spruce top paired with Indian Rosewood for the sides and back. The neck is Mahogany, with a Ziricote head plate, and Ebony is used for the bridge and bound fingerboard. Mother of Pearl is used for the Bourgeois headstock inlay and the snowflake position marker sets. The top is enclosed in an old-style Herringbone inlay, and the back has a ‘Zipper’ center strip.  Open gear,  nickel plated Waverly tuners – made in Bozeman, Montana, not far from the Gibson Acoustic shop – are at the head.

Ernie Ball Music Man Axis Translucent Gold, 2011

Ernie Ball Music Man Axis Translucent Gold, 2011

The Ernie Ball Music Man Axis is a straight ahead model, built to reliably deliver rock performance – a Basswood body with Maple cap, bolt on Maple neck, a pair of humbuckers, and a Floyd Rose double locking system are the core components. Introduced in 1996, the Ernie Ball Music Man Axis has been a popular design. It does exactly what it’s designed to do, and very well. The combination of a Maple capped Basswood body and Maple bolt on neck provide excellent tone, with lots of warmth but also clarity and separation.

Martin D18 Dreadnought Steel String Guitar, 1956

Martin D18 Dreadnought Steel String Guitar, 1956

The Martin D18 Dreadnought appeared in 1931 as banjo players increasingly converted to guitar, and required ever increasing volume levels. For the first three years, the D-18 was built with a 12-fret neck, but the banjo influence quickly added two more frets clear of the body. As a 14-fret dreadnought, the D18 and its sibling the D-28 rapidly became the guitar of choice for country, bluegrass and folk players.
