Nechville Leon Hunt Phantom Banjo Maple, 2012

Nechville Leon Hunt Phantom Banjo Maple, 2012

The Nechville Leon Hunt Phantom Banjo, while not a ‘formal’ Nechville model, is based on the Nechville Phantom XXV (Phantom 25). It uses all the Nechville Phantom elements plus very highly figured maple for the neck and resonator (rather than the stock figured walnut construction), with a slight walnut tint to the finish.

Gibson RB-250 Mastertone Banjo Natural, 1977

Gibson RB-250 Mastertone Banjo Natural, 1977

The Gibson RB-250 Mastertone was the working-musician’s banjo for decades and offers that classic Gibson sound with the “Snap” to the treble attack that only Gibsons have. This is essentially the same banjo as the famous Gibson RB-3 without the Wreath inlay.

Gretsch White Falcon Bass G6136LS, 2006

Gretsch White Falcon Bass G6136LS, 2006

Here’s something not quite vintage, but certainly unusual – a 2006 Gretsch White Falcon Bass G6136LSB (Long Scale Bass). The Gretsch White Falcon was introduced in 1954 as a top of the line showpiece for the NAMM show, but a bass model wasn’t put into production at the time. A few years ago, Gretch decided to add a bass version to the line.

Guild CE-100 BLD Archtop Electric Blonde, 1979

Guild CE-100 BLD Archtop Electric Blonde, 1979

The Guild CE-100 – the Capri – was a very successful model for the company, produced from 1956 to 1984, in one and two pickup versions. A fully hollow, laminate body, single Florentine cutaway archtop model rather like the ES-175, the 1956 Guild CE-100 first had a single Franz single coil pickup in the neck position.

Fender Telecaster Natural, 1974 / *No Longer Available*

Fender Telecaster Natural, 1974 / *No Longer Available*

This Fender Telecaster, built in 1974 sports a relatively unusual Natural finish and is in very nice, all original condition. Built with a one-piece Maple neck – and its Walnut ‘Skunk’ stripe covering the channel for the rear-mounted truss rod and a three-piece Ash body, this example is typical of the Telecaster design and the aesthetics of this period.

Gibson ES-150D Electric Double Cutaway Archtop Walnut, 1974

Gibson ES-150D Electric Double Cutaway Archtop Walnut, 1974

Here’s another rarity – the Gibson ES-150D, a double cutaway, full depth hollow body electric archtop built as late as 1974 at the unionized Kalamazoo plant during the Norlin years. Drawing inspiration from the venerable ES-150 model – introduced in 1936 with the ‘Charlie Christian’ pickup and built until 1956 – the Gibson ES-150D is unusual.
