Now, Madagascar rosewood is available and has many of the tonal and aesthetic characteristics of Brazilian – a little more brilliance than Indian.

Inspired by great flat top guitars from the Golden Era of guitar making such as the Gibson J-45, it features an Adirondack spruce top which provides plenty of punch and crisp note fundamentals to complement the warm and sweet midrange of the mahogany back and sides. Top it off with a lovely looking vintage style tobacco burst and you have a guitar that sports a classic look and sound!!
We’ve just received a shipment of Ukuleles from National ResoPhonic, and here’s a very attractive Concert size model in Hawaiian Koa. It has the stellar build quality typical of Nationals, it’s quite loud and punchy yet sweet-sounding, and the flamed Koa with wooden ‘rope’ style binding really stands out. A very cool instrument!

This instrument has a perfect balance of crisp attack transient, meaty note fundamental and complex but not overpowering overtone series. It is not unusual to get a pleasing bass register on a nylon string, but to find trebles like this is very rare!! This is an exceptional sounding, truly concert grade instrument made by one of the best luthiers of our generation.
