I have always enjoyed the look of Ovangkol on Taylors 400 series guitars so I was excited to hear that they were using it for a top on a T5. I am also a big fan of satin finishes on natural wood so this guitar gets a big thumbs up in the looks department. The T5 has become a very popular guitar with players that need to get a variety of great tones out of one instrument. The five way switch allows you to select an acoustic pickup, neck humbucker, bridge humbucker and both in parallel or series for tons of versatility!

Yes, the T185MX has a lot going for it in the looks department. The compact 15″ lower bout dimension, the rich sunburst nitro lacquer finish, bound f-holes, multiple top & back purfling and the gold plated Kent Armstrong designed pickups all lend a definite aura of class … but that is not the main appeal of this instrument.
