Rigel A+ Deluxe Mandolin Darkburst, 2001

Rigel A+ Deluxe Mandolin Darkburst, 2001

The Rigel A+ Deluxe mandolin is now built by Peter Langdell in Jeffersonville, Vermont and has a unique, patented construction (U.S. Patent #D383481, awarded September 09, 1997). Rather than being bent from flat pieces in the traditional manner, the Rigel A+ Deluxe sides are carved from a solid block that supports the top and back. The back is full sized but glued on, while the top is a circular plate, somewhat like the resonator on a reso-phonic instrument.

Gibson Les Paul Special Cherry, 2010

Gibson Les Paul Special Cherry, 2010

The Gibson Les Paul Special first appeared in 1955, as the fourth version of the now-classic model. The first was the 1952 Gold-Top Les Paul, which was revised in 1953 and 1954 to allow for a steeper neck angle and the introduction of first a stop-bar bridge and then the Tune-O-Matic and stop tailpiece combination.

Gibson ‘The Firebird’ Dreadnought Dark Sunburst, 2012

Gibson 'The Firebird' Dreadnought Dark Sunburst, 2012

Produced as one of 40 by the Bozeman, Montana Custom Shop, this Gibson ‘The Firebird’ is a spectacular square-shoulder dreadnought steel string with quilted Maple back and sides. Introduced in 2004 and recently discontinued, the Gibson ‘The Firebird’ model is based on a full size, square shoulder, Maple body dreadnought. Maple tends to be fairly bright, but the tonal characteristics of the Dreadnought body add quite a bit of bottom end and fullness.

Gretsch 7655 Chet Atkins Tennessean Shaded Cherry, 1974

Gretsch 7655 Chet Atkins Tennessean Shaded Cherry, 1974

This Gretsch 7655, a Chet Atkins Tennessean in a shaded cherry finish, dates to October of 1974 and appears to be in very good, clean and original condition. This guitar is from the Baldwin era and was built in Booneville, Arkansas. In 1958, Gretsch launched the original Tennessean as model 6119, placing it below their very popular 6120 Chet Atkins model. The ElectroTone (sealed) single-cutaway body was thinner, and at first it had one Filter ‘Tron in the bridge position.
