!‼ PRS Artist V Translucent Amber, 2011

From 2011, the PRS Artist V was the latest in the Artist Series and was based on the Custom 22. The Artist series debuted in 1991 as a showcase for new concepts and highest quality materials.

Here we’re looking at a spectacular PRS Artist V in Translucent Amber, built during 2011 at the PRS plant in Stevensville, Maryland. While it’s not called a ’10 Top’, it uses a highly figured, bookmatched carved Maple top on a Mahogany body back. The neck is also Mahogany, with a Ebony for the bound fingerboard and head plates. The inlay set is based on the classic PRS bird, executed in a combination of Mother of Pearl and Abalone. The bridge is a PRS classic six-pivot ‘vintage’ style trem, and the tuners are open-gear locking Phase III models The hardware is all gold-plated.

For electronics, new PRS Artist V humbucking pickups were built, and these run through a Master Volume / Master Tone and a five way switch with these functions:

• One: Bridge humbucker
• Two: Bridge humbucker with neck singlecoil, in parallel
• Three: Bridge and neck humbuckers
• Four: Neck singlecoil with bridge singlecoil, in parallel
• Five: Neck humbucker
