The Stelling Whitestar was one of Geoff Stelling’s early designs and appeared in 1974 using Walnut but was soon available using Maple. It is a restrained banjo with simple inlays, but that does not mean it is a lesser quality instrument.
This example of the Stelling Whitestar dates to 1983, with dark stained Maple for the neck and resonator and Indian Rosewood for the fingerboard. Overall it is in quite good condition, with five capo tacks installed. The scale length is 26 inches or 660.4mm and the nut width 1.26 inches or 32mm. The finish is gloss. The metal parts are in good condition, with a little expected tarnish on the nickel plating but no corrosion; similarly, fret wear is minimal. The tone is bright and clean with plenty of volume and projection.
A black plastic Superior case is included.
