Here we have a Taylor 416ce Ovangkol built during 2011, with a Sitka Spruce top, Venetian-cutaway Grand Symphony body and the Expression System pickup and preamp set. This model was introduced in 2011 and discontinued around 2017. One of the last list prices for a new 416ce was US$2399.

This Taylor 416ce Ovangkol is in good working order but has clearly been used as intended. There are a number of small dents and dings and small finish chips, and two small, repaired cracks near the tailblock on the back. Fret wear is light to moderate, particularly on frets 1 to 3 under the high E and B strings. The guitar plays well and sounds good. It also has the Taylor NT neck joint, so that when a neck reset is inevitably required, as with all steel string acoustics, the task can be completed in about an hour or so at a low cost. This compares very favorably with guitars with traditional dovetail joints, where rates for neck resets start at around $500 and can take days to complete, longer if finish touchups are required.

A fairly new and good condition non-original arched top, hard shell case is included.

More From the Builder On The Taylor 416ce Ovangkol:

The sonic power and depth of Taylor’s Grand Symphony body shape, especially in the lower mids, add girth and sustain to the overall voice. The cutaway ovangkol/spruce 416ce makes a bold strummer, yielding meaty midrange and strong treble notes, and its responsiveness to a light touch gives players a dynamic range to explore. Clean, modern appointments include crisp white binding, progressive dot fretboard inlays, and a three-ring rosette, with Taylor’s onboard Expression System acoustic electronics providing a reliable amplified sound for performing or recording.”
