Made in Germany at the Warwick shop in Markneukirchen, Germany and dating to July 2, 2002, this Warwick Thumb BO is a 5-string fretless bass made of Ovangkol with a curved body and oiled finish. It features black hardware, active electronics, and a solid 5-saddle bridge. It is in overall quite good and original condition, with just a light scuff on the back near the upper horn.
For construction, the body is of Ovangkol, a wood with some visual similarities to Rosewood, and native to tropical western Africa. The body style is a double cutaway with a very comfortable curved body design likely drawn from 1980’s work by Stuart Spector. The neck is also Ovangkol, with an ebony fingerboard and headplate. A pair of MEC J-bass style pickups are installed, and a Just-A-Nut metal adjustable nut is installed at the head.
A Rockbag Gig Bag case is included.
Founded in 1982 in Erlangen, Bavaria, Warwick is well known for its high-end basses and amplifiers. In 1995, they moved to their present location and also revived the historic Framus line of guitars.
