The D-35 has been a key part of the Martin line since 1965. The early models used Brazilian rosewood, but export and import restrictions moved Martin towards Indian rosewood. Now, Madagascar rosewood is available and has many of the tonal and aesthetic characteristics of Brazilian – a little more brilliance than Indian.

Part of the Traditional Series of guitars from Eastman the E10-SS slope shouldered dreadnought is an excellent tribute to the iconic guitars from the 30’s and 40’s! Inspired by great flat top guitars from the Golden Era of guitar making such as the Gibson J-45, it features an Adirondack spruce top which provides plenty of punch and crisp note fundamentals to complement the warm and sweet midrange of the mahogany back and sides. Top it off with a lovely looking vintage style tobacco burst and you have a guitar that sports a classic look and sound!!

This is one of the most impressive sounding classical guitars to come through our shop in a long time. This instrument has a perfect balance of crisp attack transient, meaty note fundamental and complex but not overpowering overtone series. It is not unusual to get a pleasing bass register on a nylon string, but to find trebles like this is very rare!! This is an exceptional sounding, truly concert grade instrument made by one of the best luthiers of our generation.

❌ ❌ Epiphone Casino ‘Inspired by John Lennon’ Sunburst

The Casino was very important in the Epiphone line during the 1960’s, and was introduced to compete with the Gibson ES-330. In 1965, a member of an obscure band known as “The Beatles” – Paul McCartney – began using one for studio work – and John Lennon and George Harrison got theirs in 1966. This tobacco sunburst model became Lennon’s main guitar, and was later sanded and refinished natural. A few years ago, Gibson released two US-made versions of this guitar, in sunburst and natural (as the “Revolution” model) in a total production run of 1,965 pieces, and now has released the “Inspired by John Lennon” versions, which are much more affordable, yet still really good instruments.
